About Me
After decades in the field, I understand that not one kind of therapy works for every one. Some of us need to be heard, some need to be "held" and still others cringe at the though of sitting in an office chatting with a stranger who wants to "help" them. Treating individuals as individuals, honoring their histories and how their lives have brought them to this very moment, is the most gracious environment a therapist can create for healing. That is what I believe is core to how therapy works.
My practice has diversified over the years and now encompasses conventional "talk therapy", evidenced-based trauma therapy, EMDR and equine-facilitated psychotherapy. No two of us are alike. Not one kind of therapy works for everyone. Let's figure out together what is right for you.

Services
Traditional Therapy
A therapist may be very skilled but unless they are a "good fit" for you, healing can be elusive. I approach therapy with warmth, empathy and a touch of humor. You decide if that works for you. My current practice encompasses work with young adults and adults struggling with life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma and grief.
Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy
Imagine being in therapy with someone who "has your back," who even in the most challenging moments ensures, if nothing else, you are not alone. Integrating an equine partner into therapy can be transformative. This specialty utilizes my clinical and equine expertise. EFP is especially helpful for clients who have had less success in traditional therapies. It is also an excellent intervention for mind and body integration in trauma treatment.
Specialties
Death and Dying
If there is one thing we know about grief, it's that no one experience is the same and nothing is prescribed about how to find your way through this difficult time. I would be grateful to walk that path you.
EMDR
EMDR is an evidenced-based treatment proven to be highly effective for those who have experienced trauma, or other emotionally disturbing events. EMDR therapy is founded on the basis that our emotional well-being is interwoven with our physical state. EMDR employs a body-based technique called bilateral simulation during which a client is guided through eye movements, tones, or taps which assist in moving an incorrectly stored memory to a more functional part of the brain. The result is that the painful memories are integrated and the trauma loses its charge.
Trauma Therapy
Events happen in our lives that are not within our control, and try as we might to put them aside or move on, they linger and can have lasting effects on our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. By gently addressing these recent events or memories of the past their impact on our daily lives loosens leaving us freer to live our best lives.
